The Gordo Town Council is going to negotiate hiring an engineer to deal with potential road projects, it was decided at the Feb. 9 meeting, which also learned that there will be more neighborhood patrolling by the Police Department, and a call for local churches to help cut the grass at the town’s park.

Furthermore, the town’s utility board got good news about its water system in a meeting held after the council meeting.

Mayor Robin Edgeworth said she and Councilman Kenneth  McCoy attended a quarterly meeting with the director of the Alabama Department of Trans- portation to discuss some of the highway needs in Gordo. The big news to come out of that meeting is that the four- laning of U.S. Highway 82, a project years in the making, will be completed in October of this year. “We’ve been looking for this for a long time,” said Mrs. Edgeworth.
