LEVY OF 1.79 MILLS COUNTYWIDE SCHOOL
TAX IN PICKENS COUNTY,
ALABAMA
Notice is hereby given that the Pickens County Commission has called and ordered a special election to be held in Pickens County on March 13, 2012, at which there will be submitted to the qualified electors of said County, for their determination by ballot, the question of whether the said County shall be authorized to levy annually, for a period of twenty-five (25) successive years, commencing with the levy for the tax year that will begin on October 1, 2012 (for which tax year taxes will become payable on October 1, 2013), for public school purposes, a special property or ad valorem tax at the rate of 1.79 mills on each dollar of the assessed valuation of the taxable property in the said County.  If the said special tax is authorized at the said election, its levy will not increase the rate of taxation presently levied in the County but will constitute a renewal and continuation of the special tax at the same rate and for the same purpose now being levied in the County, the said tax having been heretofore authorized at a special election held in the County on June 3, 1986.
The said election will be held at the regularly established voting places in said County between the legal hours for holding of elections.

IN PICKENS COUNTY SCHOOL DISTRICT NO. 2
Notice is hereby given that the Pickens County Commission has called and ordered a special election to be held in the Pickens County School District No. 2 on March 13, 2012, at which there will be submitted to the qualified electors of said district, for their determination by ballot, the question of whether a special district tax of 4.04 mills on each dollar (equal of $.0404 cents on each one hundred dollars) of the assessed value of taxable property located within the said school district shall be levied for public school purposes for a period of twenty-five (25) consecutive years commencing with the tax year that will begin on October 1, 2013 (for which first tax year will become due and payable on October 1, 2014), which levy shall be in continuation of the 4.04 mills school district tax now being levied in the District.
The said election will be held at the voting places regularly established for County elections in the Pickens County School District No. 2 between the legal hours for the holding of elections.

PICKENS COUNTY WATER AUTHORITY
Sealed bids for NEW 250 GPM WELL AND WATER TREATMENT PLANT will be received by the Pickens County Water Authority at the office of Pickens County Water Authority in Carrollton, Alabama until 1:00 p.m., Thursday, February 16,  2012   and shortly thereafter publicly opened and read aloud:
BASIS OF AWARD:
The award, if made, will be made to the lowest qualified bidder on the basis of lump sum bid in the contract documents.  Actual work quantities performed shall be based on availability of local funds.  The work to be done is generally as shown in the plans and technical specifications.  The Board of Directors hereby notifies all bidders that it will affirmatively insure that in any contract entered into pursuant to this advertisement all minority business enterprises will be afforded full opportunity to submit bids in response to this invitation and will not be discriminated against on the grounds of race, color, or national origin in consideration for an award.  
PLANS and SPECIFICATIONS are on file in the Office of the Project Engineer, in Meridian, Mississippi.  
PLANS, SPECIFICATIONS, AND BID FORMS may be obtained at the office of E.P. AND ASSOCIATES. located at 1724-B 23RD AVENUE, MERIDIAN, MS  39301 upon payment of $50.00 for each set which is non-refundable.
Certified check or bid bond for five (5%) percent of the total bid, made payable to Pickens County Water Authority, must accompany each proposal.
